E-Visa Portal Availability
E-Visa Portal Availability 24 August, 2024
As part of this transition: 1. eVisa Portal Availability: As of August 2024, the Home Office has opened the eVisa portal to all BRP holders. Previously, only selected individuals were invited to apply for an eVisa, but now everyone holding a BRP can register for an eVisa account. 2. BRP Expiry: All BRP cards, regardless of their printed expiration dates, will cease to be valid after December 31, 2024. However, this will not affect the holder’s immigration status. Instead, residents will need to rely on their digital eVisa records to prove their status from 2025 onward. 3. Creating a UKVI Account: BRP holders must create a UKVI account if they haven’t already. This account will allow them to view their eVisa, update personal details, and generate share codes for proving their immigration status when necessary. 4. No Need for BRP Renewal: If your BRP is set to expire before the end of 2024, and your leave extends beyond this date, you should not apply for a renewal. Instead, focus on transitioning to the eVisa system. These changes are part of the UK’s broader move towards a fully digital immigration system. Residents are advised to create their UKVI account as soon as possible and ensure their information is up to date to avoid any issues, especially with international travel.
